Review: The Fall of Legend

“As my heart hammers and sweat drips down my brow, I try to catch my breath as I stare at the beautiful face of the woman in front of me. In that moment, I know she has the power to break me. ”

Blurb:

From New York Times bestselling author Meghan March comes a new deliciously dangerous alpha hero in The Fall of Legend, the first book in the brand new and utterly addictive Legend trilogy.

We come from two different worlds.

I’m from the streets. She might as well live in an ivory tower.

I made my living with my fists. I doubt she could even throw a punch.

Our paths never should have crossed.

We never should have met.

That doesn’t change the facts.

I would sell my soul to taste those red lips.

Fight the devil himself to hear her laugh.

Burn in hell to have a single night.

Scarlett Priest shouldn’t even know men like me exist, but sometimes temptation is stronger than will.

If this is how I go down, it’ll be worth every second of the fall.

REVIEW

Figures that my first ever review would be one of Meghan March's books. I have loved this author ever since I read the Beneath Series years ago. She is one of the few authors that's an automatic buy for me - I don't even need to think about it.

So, it all starts when kidnapped socialite Scarlett Priest is rolled out of a carpet and meets the infamous Gabriel Legend. His club is failing and Scarlett's the only one who can save it.

At first it seems as though Scarlett is one of those shallow, Instagram-famous socialites living in the limelight but there is so much more to her. Slowly we discover the multiple facets of Scarlett's personality and why she does things the way she does. She built her business Curated from the ground up, which makes her a passionate hard-working woman chasing after her own goals and dreams.

Gabriel is drawn to Scarlett from the first moment he sees her and after the initial "meeting" he can't really stop thinking about Scarlett, knowing he can't do anything about his attraction because they come from completely different worlds.

Even though at first Gabriel comes off as a hard, menacing man throughout the story we discover that behind his tough exterior is a world full of guilt and pain. He's someone who had to fight his way through life and has been living in the shadows, hiding from his past.

Gabriel Legend is different from Meghan March's latest heroes who were broody, ruthless alpha (and sometimes asshole) men ruling over their domains like kings (I'm looking at you, Lachlan Mount *wink wink*), which is refreshing and throws me back to the Beneath series. Not to say that Gabriel isn't an alpha man, which he is but if you read the Mount-Trilogy you know what I mean. And if you haven't... Girl, what are you waiting for?! Go and pick up Ruthless King!!!

So why a solid 4.5 stars instead of 5, you might ask? Well, because it wasn't as fast-paced and action packed as I would have liked. Maybe I've become spoiled but comparing it to the Savage or Sin Trilogy (which is unfair I know but can't help it) The Fall of Legend was tame, with not much happening.  I know it's the first in a series, introducing us to all the characters and some of their backgrounds, laying the groundwork for things to come. What I've read so far looks really promising and I can't wait to dive into the next two books, which are thankfully out by now.
